[full-time] Web Frontend Game Engineers in Palo Alto at Disney Mobile / Tapulous Games Studio

March 16, 2011 - 10:30am
Location: Silicon Valley, CA
URL: http://tapulous.com/jobs

Description:

Disney Mobile/Tapulous Games Studio in Palo Alto looking for Rockstar Frontend Games Engineer! Come join us!

ABOUT THE JOB

We need a top notch Engineer to join an A++ team that is building and maintaining a new crop of mobile game interfaces, which are increasingly being developed using modern web technologies like HTML5 and CSS3. If your recent passion has been for these technologies, and the advances they bring to web interfaces’ presentation layer, support for media, offline behavior, client-side storage, etc., this is the job for you.

We believe building our iPhone game user interfaces using web technologies gives us a compelling competitive edge: we can update these interfaces as easily as one updates a website, and the code is inherently cross-platform to a degree that native iPhone SDK code is not.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Building and maintaining many of our iOS game interfaces in HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript, leveraging the power and standards of the mobile WebKit.
•Turn our use of these technologies into a reusable framework. Our ability to rapidly create and iterate upon web-based game interfaces is an important piece of our overall platform strategy, that supports all of Tapulous’ and Disney Mobile’s development. You’re not just going to build one game; you’re going to figure out how to support development like this, for dozens of titles every year, by engineers working here and abroad.
•Collaborate closely with other engineers, designers and producers to define, design and ship new features and new games.
•Innovate using cutting edge technologies to deliver snappy, efficient, and beautiful mobile entertainment experiences to end-users.

REQUIREMENTS

•5+ years working with web technologies, developing consumer-facing products and sites.
•Deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Ajax.
•Significant experience coding in the context of a modern web framework (like Ruby on Rails, Codelgniter, CakePHP, Django, etc.).
•Passion for making user interfaces that look and work great.
•Enjoy experimenting with new technologies because it’s in your nature, not because it’s a job requirement.

NICE TO HAVE

•WebKit experience
•Mobile experience
•PHP expertise
•Formal training in computer science (bachelors, masters)
•Experience building and playing games particularly on mobile devices

HOW TO APPLY

•Play Tap Tap Revenge and other Tapulous games. We will talk to you about the experience as part of the interview process.
•Apply via website or email: Martha.Om@Disney.com

[full-time] Sr. Javascript Developer at Appnexus

February 16, 2011 - 12:07pm
Location: Boston, MA
URL: http://www.appnexus.com

Description:

AppNexus is looking for a senior Front-End Developer to help build a next-generation transactional system on top of our existing RESTful API services. We need an efficient and agile engineer who is motivated by solving interesting technical challenges: building new front-end applications that allow for efficient buying and selling of online advertising inventory.

Our mission is to develop web applications that are easy for our clients to use. If you know how to write javascript that is blazing fast and reusable, if you obsess over both page generation and page rendering times, and if you are the best at what you do and interested in working with one of the smartest engineering teams in the city, you should already be working here.

The position requires a problem solving mindset as much as it requires web development skills. The ideal candidate is hands-on when designing applications and is comfortable coding off of a problem statement instead of a formal spec. We release new code at least once a week (as continuous deployment actually increases reliability), so you must be both fast and accurate with your code and confident in your work. You’ll immediately see the results of your work and creativity — as will the rest of our team, our clients, and the world at large.

Requirements: * 5+ years experience writing production-level HTML, CSS & JS on the client-side * Experience using a scripting language on the server-side. * Proven experience writing fast, scalable code * Experience consuming APIs * Experience with writing unit tests within a testing framework * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24-7 environment

Nice to have:

* Mastery of at least one JS framework – we use jQuery * Familiarity with at least one MVC framework – we use Zend Framework for PHP

Why AppNexus?

If you’re driven, smart, and dynamic, and want to work with other people who fit that same description, look no further. Our team, including our senior leadership, is composed of some of the most respected people in the industry. Our passion for our work carries into our hobbies, ranging from fashion design to break-dancing to sailing. It seems to be no accident that we were named one of the Top 100 Private companies on the East Coast (AlwaysOn), as well as one of New York City’s 10 Hottest Tech Startups (amNY). If you think you can keep up, don’t worry if you’ve missed a few bullet points. We want to talk to you!

That still not exciting enough? How about the $50 million dollars in funding we just received? http://appnexus.com/news/press-releases.php

AppNexus is looking for a junior Front-End Developer to help build a next-generation transactional system on top of our existing RESTful API services.

Requirements:

* 1+ years experience writing production-level code on the client-side HTML, CSS, JS. * Experience using a scripting language on the server-side. * Comfortable working in a fast-paced, 24-7 environment.

Nice to have:

* Experience with a JS framework – we use jQuery * Experience with a MVC framework – we use Zend Framework for PHP

How about the additional $50 million dollars in funding we just received? http://appnexus.com/news/press-releases.php

Sorry, we are unable to offer new H1B sponsorship, and are thus unable to move forward with F1 or OPT candidates.
